Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) hosted the fireworks on the North Shore of Oahu for the first time. We decided to check it out with our family that lives in Kahuku on the North Shore. We live closer to Waikiki so for us it was about an hour drive to get to the PCC. For us, it’s a LONG drive but was so worth it!
The first thing we did was get in line for a FREE balloon sculpture by Adventure Balloons.
Each child got to make their own request for their balloon sculpture. For my nephew, foster son, he doesn’t talk much but he LOVES anything with wheels. The talented balloon guy from Adventure Balloons said they do know how to make a truck or car but since it takes about 10 minutes to make they won’t be able to do it at this event. Instead he suggested a puffer fish because it is more like a toy and little kids love it.
At first he wasn’t too sure about it…
When he got the hang of it, he LOVED it and didn’t want to let it go.
So grateful for the awesome balloon guy’s suggestion. I just love to see this boy smile big!
Even baby got something. It stayed on her head long enough for a picture.
Once everyone got their balloons they rushed to the bouncy house and blown up fun houses.
All of these were FREE to play on for the whole night! I loved how they had a Toddler Zone for 6 and under so we didn’t have to worry about our little ones getting trampled by the bigger, rougher kids.ย
The bigger kids had more activity type blowup fun to play on. My kids loved the ones with the huge slides the best.
My 4 year old said she liked this green & yellow one best. As soon as she slid down, she got right back in line, many, many times.
They even had a cool mechanical bucking bull from Mek Bull that my husband and cousin got to try out for FREE. I enjoyed watching them have fun on it. What made riding the bucking bull more authentic was that husband was wearing his cowboy hat he recently got from an elderly family friend.
My cousin decided she needed to borrow my husband’s hat for her ride too.
All that playing worked up an appetite! There was so much good food to choose from!!! Here are just a few menus.
Most of my kids just wanted saimin (local Hawaiian ramen).
My oldest daughter & I got chicken curry and my husband got teriyaki chicken plate. It was delicious!
There was TONS of dessert options too and of course shave ice!
There was also games with prizes that you had to pay for but my kids were satisfied with the blow up obstacle course and bouncy houses.
The entertainment was excellent! My oldest enjoyed his birthday sitting back and just listing to the music. That night we got to hear Kekoa Kane, Josh Tatofi, Kapena, and B.E.T. Great local music to enjoy, sing along, and dance to.
Then the night ended with fireworks. Here is a video of the full fireworks show:ย 2018 PCC 4th of July Fireworks.
We all had an enjoyable 4th of July on the North Shore. My 15 year old also noticed how the Laie community is so nice, “Everyone was so nice,” he said. We were all happy and poop tired by the end of it. I’m thinking we will do it again next year!
This looks like it was a fun day for the entire family! Nice they had a ton of activities for people of all ages.
It was a fun day. ๐ Thank you for your comment!
What fun! Looks like a really fun day!
It was lots of fun! Thank you! ๐
I love the PCC! And, what a fun way to spend the 4th. Maybe someday I’ll get my family over there for the festivities, too.
PCC is awesome. ๐ I used to be a Japanese Tour Guide once upon a time. Lol ๐ If you are here for the 4th of July celebrations, youโll want to stay on this side of the island because youโll need a different day to enjoy inside of PCC. ๐ This all took place outside in the parking lot. Great thing was we got to use PCCโs nice bathrooms ๐ Fireworks started when night show was done. ๐ I know youโd love it too ๐
The balloon sculptures were awesome. It amazes me how skillful people are. The event looks like a lot of fun with so many great activities.
I think itโs so cool that you could ask for pretty much anything and they could do make it balloon style! ๐
What great fun for the kids. I love that they will associate the 4th with so many happy activities.
Me too! Making memories is way better than buying toys! ๐
I loved visiting the PCC when I visited Hawaii many years ago. Looks like they had a great 4th of July event.
The PCC is awesome. This event was actually held outside in the parking lot area. ๐
So much fun! I bet the kids had a blast with that amount of fun in a day!
Oh yes! The little ones where so exhausted! Lol.
That chicken curry looks delicious!
It was! My 13yr old daughter said that was the best part. Lol ๐
Those balloon creations are everything! Glad they had the toddler section separate from the rest so it’s contained.
I totally agree! ๐
This looks like so much fun! I love that the PCC came out into the community.
PCC is very supportive of the community. The school kids have their annual May Day performance in the huge stage area. ๐
What fun! I would have loved to explore that food!!
There was so much to choose from! I didnโt realize I didnโt check ALL the food booths before finally making my choice. ๐ Days later I was thinking oh, I would have liked to try a fried Twinkie. Lol ๐
what a great way to Celebrate independence day!
It was. Thank you! ๐
Your photos are beautiful! We’ll be on Oahu in less than a year and will be paying a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center for sure!
Oh! You will love it for sure! I hope to be posting a real Polynesian Cultural Center experience in the near future. ๐ I was a Japanese tour guide there many moons ago. Lol. Such a fun place with so many experiences to have! ๐
What a great festival! And was that a Pikachu balloon?
Yes! That was Pikachu! Very popular here with the kids. ๐
I enjoyed my time at the PCC many years ago when I visited. I think it’s time to head back and take the kids! Looks like they had a great fourth of July event.
The PCC has changed a lot, yet many things are the same. ๐ I was a Japanese Tour guide there about 18yrs ago. Lol my favorite was taking families with children. Itโs a different tour experience with Kids. ๐
very nice
Thanks ๐
Very nice ๐
Thank you!
Awesome
Thanks! ๐
Looks like fun activities for everyone. Cute kids! And your husband is hilarious!
Lol ๐ thank you! Yes, my husband loves to make us laugh. ๐
Looks like a fun event! Iโd love some of the Teriyaki chicken and the shave ice. The balloons look fun, too!
Iโm pretty sure you would have enjoyed it too. ๐
Great pictures! I hoped to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center on my last trip to Hawaii. It looks amazing
I encourage everyone if possible to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center if possible. Itโs an experience you canโt have any where else! ๐
This looks like such a great time!
It was. ๐
This looks so fun, and your kids are all so cute!
Thank you! ๐
I went last week to PCC and really loved it! The people in Laie are so nice and talented. I was able to go to church in the area and see how talented and amazing the people were!
I used to work at the PCC as a Japanese tour guide. It was a lot of fun. Yes, there are so many talented people in Laie. I wonder if you went to church with some of my Pukahi family? ๐ How Long are you in Hawaii?
