About Me

Spread the love

Aloha! I’m Ruth Pukahi (My last name is pronounced, Pooh-kah-hee)

I was born and raised on the island of Oahu.

My children and I live in the big city of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Singe Mom days.
Single Mom days. China Town with kids and friends.

I am a single mother of seven children. Five children came from my tummy and two are in the foster system but have been with me for over two years now.

I was a stay at home mom for about 10yrs. My first marriage ended and I found myself a single mom of five children for about three years.

In 2017, I got remarried and started my first full time job in 14 years, as an elementary school librarian, which I love.

About three months after I started my full time job, I got a call from Child Welfare Service, asking if I’d be willing to take in my husband’s sister’s two babies. One was 14 months old and the other was 3 days old. Family is very important to me so I said yes.

My 2nd marriage sadly changed into an unhealthy relationship and once again I found myself a single mom but this time with seven children.

Meet my family in this short little video:

Then things got even more exciting when I found myself jobless during covid. I had to make the decision of being moved from my beloved librarian job to a new position as a kindergarten teacher or be there for my seven kids, at the time pre-preschool to senior in high school, all doing school from home. I chose my family. Going from employed to self employed has been a steep learning curve but I will figure it out for my family.

In November 2021, I had the privilege of adopting my foster babies alone.

Life is not like how I imagined it would be when I planned it as a youth. There have been many curves and bends in my road of life that have been very difficult. As I keep focusing on the many blessings I have, I’ve been able to keep moving forward on this journey called life. I’d like to share my stories as well as others who have gone through hard times and made it out smiling to give hope as we all go through our different struggles. We would love to have you join us on this journey of HOPE and LOVE.

Hugs and Smiles,

Ruth & kids
